Mainly sunny and cool but warm in the afternoon when it will be partly cloudy. Cloudy over the eastern Highveld and Lowveld clearing partially and become warm during the afternoon. The upper-air low has shifted southwards and is present off the Cape coast this morning. Although a lot smaller band of cloud over the Northern Cape still a chance for showers in the band of cloud extending to the south and south-east Cape coast. With the poor performance of the upper-air low yesterday over the western interior I suppose one cannot expect fireworks when it comes to rain in this band but at least there is a chance for a few showers. Clearing has taken place over Namibia where it is rather cold this morning over parts but that we have expected. Fresh north-westerly winds must be expected over the South-West Cape coast and may become strong at times, take care.

Have a lovely day!

Good morning everyone:

A near perfect example of an upper-air closed low off the west coast with a broad band of moisture moving in from the north over Namibia and the entire western and central interior, and also include the south, south east and east coast. As the day progress the sun will warm up the top of the clouds and in the process there will be a few spots that can expect heavier falls of rain at times. Over the northern and north-eastern interior there is also a few cloudy  patches due to on-shoe flow from the east and that creates a few fog and or drizzle patches over the Lowveld and Escarpment but should clear somewhat as the dat progress. The same system a month ago and I would have forecasted 100-150mm plus over most of the western interior. This late into the rain season one have to scale down somewhat but there may still be a few places that can get 50mm plus over the next 24 hours. In most cases it is too late for maize and related products but it may boost the veld conditions but we have to hope that the cold that will follow the rain is not to extreme with wide spread frost. At this stage there is a chance for much colder weather to follow and for those that would like to know in advance must visit www.netfor.co.za or contact me at for a 7-10 day outlook.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone:
Cloudy and mild over the southern parts of Gauteng with a few light rain patches but partly cloudy in the north. It is expected to clear partially and become cloudy again by tonight with a few light showers. Cloudy over most of North-West with light showers but it is expected that a few thundershowers will develop as the day progress with better falls of rain mainly in the west. Mostly overcast over the Freestate with a few light rain patches in the west and south-west but scattered showers and thundershowers are expected during the afternoon and evening with the best falls in the west and south-west. Cloudy weather also persist over Kwazulu-Natal and the Eastern and southern Cape with a few light showers along the coast this morning but scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the interior and coastal areas as the day progress. Partly cloudy over the south-west Cape coast and it may become cloudy at times over the extreme southern parts at times with a few light rain patches. With all the cloud cover over most of the country maximum temperatures will be below average while the minimum temperatures will be somewhat above average.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone:

Mainly sunny and mild over Gauteng becoming partly cloudy and warm during the afternoon with a few thundershowers by evening. Cloudy over the central, north-eastern and eastern parts of Limpopo with a few rain patches in the east and north-east at first. It is also cloudy over the High and Lowveld with fog patches on the Highveld clearing partially as the day progress. It is overcast and mild over the Durban area at first with fairly dense fog but it should start to clear and become warm and humid. Cloudy with showers over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape including the extreme western parts of North-West. It is expected that this band of cloud and showers with move slowly eastwards to include the central parts of North-West and the western parts of the Freestate. It is also mostly overcast with showers over the eastern Cape but it will become somewhat warmer with scattered thundershowers over the interior later today. Cloudy at first over the South-West Cape but should clear and become somewhat warmer. Still a small chance for a few light rain patches over the southern mountains this morning. Overcast and mild over the central and northern parts of Namibia with a few showers and may become scattered thundershowers in the east in the afternoon.

Have a great day, drive slowly and carefully when and if you land up in fog or rain.

Good morning everyone:

Cloudy to partly cloudy over Gauteng at first and cloudy over the central and eastern parts of Limpopo, in both regions clearing partially as the day progress. It may become cloudy again over Gauteng in the late afternoon with a few thundershowers with a 20% spread. Overcast and cool over the High and Lowveld with a few fog patches over the Lowveld clearing partially. There is also cloudy patches over the Eastern Cape and Kwazulu-Natal but that is mainly high cloud but may lead to a few thundershowers in the afternoon and evening. It is also cloudy over the south-west Cape coast due to on-shore flow ahead of a cold front that one can see is just off the coast. The rain band from this cold front will most likely move in over the southern Peninsula during the late morning when it will become cooler. Sunny weather over the western interior where it will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with a very small chance for a few showers (10% spread) Fairly cloudy over central and northern Namibia where isolated thundershowers are expected in the afternoon and early evening.

Have a great day!

Good morning everyone:

Fairly overcast and cool from Gauteng eastwards with light rain over the Lowveld and parts of the Escarpment clearing somewhat during the midday but become cloudy again with showers and or thundershowers. Overcast and cool over the Kimberley to Bloemfontein area with rain and thundershowers on and off during the morning period and wil also keep the maximum temperatures much lower than the norm. The same can be said for the western parts of North-West where it is overcast with showers and thundershowers and I expect these showers and thundershowers to spread eastwards as the day progress. Cloudy over the south-west Cape coast due to on-shore flow but off-shore flow is already present in the George region this morning with temperatures already at around 30 C. The gradient wind between Cape Town and George show that the wind should turn to south-west as the morning progress and in the process it should cool rapidly from the west. The warm off-shore flow will spread eastwards to include the south and south-east Cape coast. Showers and or thundershowers are also expected over the eastern Cape  interior spreading to the interior of Kwazulu-Natal by the afternoon and by evening the coast. If you get rain where you are, well enjoy, do not complain we have had very little rain since the start of the year over most of the interior!!

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone:

Cloudy with a few thundershowers are in progress over Gordonia (Upington) this morning and will most likely move south and south-eastwards to include parts of Kimberley and surrounding areas during the day. Also cloudy with showers in the Richards Bay area this morning and with more than enough moisture the chance is fairly good for re-development over the interior this afternoon spreading to the coast again by overnight tonight. Pretoria had up to 35mm last night, the best rain in less than a 24 hour period this year! (That was great!!) Still cloudy patches over most of Gauteng this morning, even a few rain patches, with again a chance for showers and thundershowers by evening and tonight. Partly cloudy to cloudy over parts of North-West and with enough heat during the day there is also a reasonable chance for thundershowers and showers this afternoon and evening and that include most of the Freestate.  A well defined low (coastal low) develops off the west coast of the Cape and that means the flow will become off-shore and hot over the Cape but as this low start to move over the Cape during the afternoon a cool see breeze should cool the region. However, in the hot off-shore flow during the morning and early afternoon the fire index will be very high, thus take care and report smoke plumes when and if you see them. The flow will also become off-shore over the south coast where you also have to be on alert!!

Have a lovely day!

Good Morning everyone:

Partly cloudy to cloudy from Gauteng eastwards becoming partly cloudy during the midday but again cloudy with isolated thundershowers in the afternoon and evening. Cloudy over the western parts of North-West with isolated showers becoming scattered during the afternoon and spreading eastwards. Cloudy with isolated thundershowers along the east coast this morning clearing partially but become cloudy again with scattered thundershowers over the western interior and isolated along the coast. Mainly sunny over the south-west Cape coast but cloudy along the south and south-east Cape coast with a few light rain patches this morning.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone:

Mainly sunny and mild over Gauteng and the Highveld but warm in the afternoon with a few thundershowers. It will be cloudy over parts of the Lowveld at first but should also clear partially as the day progress. Cloudy weather will continue along the south, south-east and east coast with a few patches light rain or drizzle clearing partially during the midday period. There is again some moisture over the central and western parts of North West and the northern and eastern parts of the Northern Cape that may lead to a few heat storms this afternoon with a 20% spread. Partly cloudy and on the cool side along the western escarpment with temperatures below 10 C but it should become a bit warmer during the day.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone:

Sunny and mild over the Highveld areas this morning but cool on the escarpment but partly cloudy and warm in the afternoon with a few odd heat storms with a spread of less than 20%. It is cloudy over parts of the Lowveld at first but it should clear and become warm and humid. (Warm and humid also means hot feeling!) Partly cloudy over parts of the central and eastern Northern Cape including parts of the Freestate. This may lead to a few odd heat storms in the afternoon with at maximum a 20% chance and spread. A cold front is passing over the Cape and up to 4mm has fallen in the mountains and a few more showers can be expected during the course of the morning but should clear partially by later this afternoon. It will remain cool over this region. The cold front will move slowly eastwards and produce a few showers along the south and south-east Cape coast as the day progress and in the process it will become colder, spreading to the south-coast of Kwazulu-Natal by evening.

Have a great day!
