Good morning everyone:
Still a few cloudy patches over the south-west Cape coastal areas with a few odd light rain patches but by nor as much as have been the case the last couple of days. Over most of the interior and even KZN temperatures has dropped significantly overnight and in most cases at around 5 C but over the central interior including Gauteng temperatures was below 0 C with wide spread frost, not often that we start September this cold. Over the Northern Cape, North-West and the Freestate most areas recorded well below freezing temperatures with heavy frost in places. Lucky for us the sun is out and that will help to recover temperatures during the day but even with the sun out still maximum temperatures will be well below the norm for this time of the year. A you can see from the photo the cold front is moving away from the south-east Cape coast but is still responsibly for fresh to strong winds along the coast and even a couple of places inland of East London. Although this is the un official start for Spring real Spring will be on the charts from the 21st of September when the sun moves across the equator. If you do go out tonight, remember to take something warm with you, the temperatures will again drop significantly when the sun goes down!! Take care and enjoy the day!!
