Good morning everyone:
A lot more cloud around over the northern provinces this morning than expected. The upper-air low and cold front that the models have forecast for today is visible off the west coast and is further north from what I can derive from the model data. This has resulted in more cloud over the central and northern interior and have kept minimum temperatures under control. At the same time, with cloud this morning less sunshine means that maximum temperatures will be lower. The upper-air low can be seen just to the west of Garies along the western Northern Cape coast and on its present position the chance increase for rain and showers along the west coast and the chance is good that this closed low will gradually moves south-east wards towards the south coast. At the surface there is also a cold front at the Cape where it is already cloudy and the increase for rain from the Cape to George during the morning period and extend as far east as East London by evening. A few showers can also be expected over the Little Karoo and even the eastern interior areas of the Western Cape as far east as Beufort West and Three Sisters. It is also cloudy with a few drizzle patches over the Lowveld this morning and extend northwards towards Tzaneen. In general one would expect the cloud to clear at least partially over the northern interior and Lowveld as the flow becomes a bit more off-shore during the day. All in all it seems as if the weather start to behave like this it is early signs of a changing season, and certainly not something that I dislike. More cloud and moisture and with a little bit of upper-air development may lead to a few odd showers and where we had no rain at all last year the same time, we already are up to between 3-7mm over parts in the north and it is even more over KZN.
Have a lovely day and enjoy the moisture, dry air make noses dry and itchy!!
