Phil Schiller from Apple: “For many users, iPad Pro can replace a PC”

Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP, believes iPad Pro can be both a replacement for a PC and a Mac support device.

In an interview with the T3 magazine, Schiller spoke about the iPad Pro and other Apple-branded products. The SVP of the company of Cupertino has declared that the precise use of iPad Pro varies substantially from user to user:

What we understand, to be honest, is that 1153 represents both things, and that this depends on the users. For some people, iPad Pro can replace your computer. This does not mean however that the latter is put away.

Schiller added that for many users iPad Pro has become the primary device, especially for those who travel a lot:

The moment when this is understood is when people say “I use a computer when I’m at my desk” or “I use a notebook when I’m at my desk, but when I travel, I travel only with my iPad Pro”. It’s great in those situations. […] So for those users, iPad has become the primary device, but they do not think of this as a rival of the previous computer. It is simply the computer they use most of the time.

The Apple executive is well aware of the fact that this reasoning cannot be extended to all users, this is because many people use an iPad Pro only for some purposes, made easier by the experience of use that the tablet signed by Apple can provide. For example, you can watch movies and TV shows.

Finally, Schiller spoke of the iPad Pro often calling it “computer”, in contrast to the latest advertising campaign for the tablet with the slogan “What’s a Computer?”. At the end of the spot (which you will find immediately below), a mother asks her daughter “what are you doing on your computer?” And the answer is “what is a computer?”. In short, the message is clear: iPad Pro is not a computer.
