Apple releases iOS 12.4 for iPhone and iPad

Apple released iOS 12.4, the fourth major update of the iOS 12 operating system launched for the first time in September 2018.

The iOS 12.4 update is available on all over-the-air eligible devices in the Settings app. To download the update, go to Settings -> General -> Software update .

During the beta testing process, no new features or important changes were detected in iOS 12.4. According to Apple’s release notes, the update introduces a new migration option for iPhone to directly transfer data from an old iPhone to a new iPhone and introduces improvements to Apple News +. From the Apple release notes:
OS 12.4 introduces the iPhone migration to directly transfer data from an old iPhone to a new iPhone, includes improvements to Apple News + and improves the security of your iPhone or iPad.

This update:

  • IPhone data migration 
    – Introduces the ability to transfer data wirelessly and migrate directly from an old iPhone to a new iPhone during installation
  • Apple News 
    – Makes accessible the editions downloaded in the My magazines section, both offline and online 
    – Adds all Apple News + publications, including newspapers, to the catalog at the top of the News + feed 
    – Adds the ability to delete editions downloaded magazines by selecting History> Delete> Delete all

Other improvements and fixes 
– Includes a security fix for the Walkie-Talkie app on Apple Watch and reactivates the Walkie-Talkie feature
